On 26 June, numerous project partners and guests (including the Governing Mayor of Berlin) attended the laying of the foundation stone for the Andreas Quartier construction project near Berlin's Ostbahnhof station.
A joint venture between Tishman Speyer Properties, CESA Group and RB RealBerlin is building several residential and commercial buildings with up to 11 upper floors and a continuous basement on the approx. 15,000 square metre construction site.
GuD carried out the subsoil investigations for this project, handled the excavation and foundation planning up to service phase 4 and is currently supervising the execution of the specialised foundation engineering work on site by Implenia.
The approx. 7.5 m deep watertight trough excavation is secured with a single back-anchored CSM/MIP wall on three sides and parallel to the railway viaduct with a single back-anchored reinforced concrete diaphragm wall and a soft gel sealing base. The new buildings are mainly founded flat on the in-situ Berlin sands. Special requirements exist due to the location of the construction site next to the Deutsche Bahn light rail viaduct, which was taken into account in the planning by moving the excavation pit away and using a pile and slab foundation for the new buildings next to the railway line.
We are delighted to be able to contribute our expertise to this project and would like to thank the project partners for their excellent cooperation!
