At this year's ECSMGE conference in Lisbon, Nikolaus Schneider from GuD Berlin, together with Olaf Stahlhut and Philipp Lenz from our partner BBI Hamburg, presented the so-called ‘pile inspector’.
The pile inspector is a new type of tool for quality assurance of pile toe expansions in bored piles, which was developed by the GuD group of companies. In this process, the borehole expansion is mechanically scanned and measured by gripper arms, so that a direct and reliable inspection of the produced foot expansion is possible.
The pile inspector has already been used successfully for the test piles for the A26 motorway in Hamburg and has proven its practical suitability. A particular advantage of the method is that the measurement results are immediately available on the construction site and can be used for adjustments to the drilling technology or for reworking if necessary.
It was a very interesting and inspiring few days for us in Lisbon.
