Küstrin - Kostrzyn railway bridge

Küstrin - Kostrzyn railway bridge

The replacement of the railway bridge over the Oder between Küstrin-Kietz on the German side and Kostrzyn in Poland is currently Deutsche Bahn's largest bridge construction project.

This bridge between Poland and Germany is the world's first railway arch bridge to be realised with a suspension net made of carbon elements. The requirements for the foundations resulting from the 66-metre-long superstructure are correspondingly high. GuD Consult has been advising DB Netz AG and its planning offices as a subsoil and geotechnical expert since 2016. The tasks of the GuD engineers included the planning and monitoring of the explorations, the preparation of geotechnical reports, contaminated site and substitute building material assessments, numerical deformation forecasts and the local construction supervision of the special foundation engineering work.

In addition to the railway overpass over the Oder, GuD Consult also provided expert advice on the 178 m long foreshore bridge and 750 m of railway line that were part of the project.
