Niedenau 84 GmbH planned the construction of an office and commercial building with two basements and six upper floors on the Niedenau 84 site in Frankfurt-Westend. The existing multi-storey office building was completely demolished except for a small part of the basement.
In May 2023, the final excavation of the building pits for this construction project in Frankfurt's prime city centre location was completed. The excavation pit with an excavation depth of 9 metres was designed as a trough excavation pit with overlapping bored pile walls. On the south side, the excavation pit is secured by the cellar of the neighbouring building and a back-anchored jet grouting underpinning. The tightness of the excavation pit is ensured by embedding the walls in the existing Frankfurt clay. The bracing of the excavation pit posed a particular challenge, which was solved by a combination of diagonal and corner braces.
GuD prepared the design and execution planning for this challenging excavation pit and supervised the execution of the specialised foundation engineering work on site.
