SMB-Museum Courts

The building complex of a former artillery barracks built at the end of the 19th century at the Kupfergraben in Berlin-Mitte was used as a military object until 1990. The triangular plot is bordered by the Geschwister-Scholl-Straße in the west, the Kupfergraben in the east and the Hochbahnstraße in the south. In addition to the barracks, on the area there are also buildings of the former National People´s Army of the DDR built around 1960.

As part of the construction of the SBM museum courts as a service location for the Museum Island and the German Historical Museums on this site, parts of the existing buildings were dismantled after a comprehensive start-up renovation had been carried out for the existing building complex.
