As part of the ongoing basic restoration of the Pergamon Museum, section B in Berlin, the foundations at the Kupfergraben need to be reinforced. To this end, the existing foundations are being underpinned from the Kupfergraben (water side) using the jet grouting method, i.e. cement suspension is injected into the subsoil under the foundations to stabilise them. A steel sheet pile wall is currently being installed in front of the foundations and then backfilled with soil to ensure the necessary earth load for the jet grouting work. The steel sheet piling will be removed again once the DSV work has been completed.
The client for the work on the Pergamon Museum is the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK), represented by the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR). GuD has been commissioned with the ground investigation, the planning of the engineering structures and the supervision of the special civil engineering works on site.
